Assistance Dogs
Duo Assistance Dogs provide stability and independence, working with you when you’re not able. We’ll enhance your everyday enjoyment of life by providing the freedom to go where life takes you.
Therapy Dogs
Duo Touch Therapy™ Dogs bring heart and connection wherever they go, offering comfort, calm, and meaningful interaction that encourages engagement, activity, and well-being.
Obedience
Duo Obedience Training classes provide guidance and training. Working with the general public to learn how to effectively communicate with your dog increases the human and dog relationship.
Who we serve
Our Assistance, Facility, and Touch Therapy Dogs enrich lives to facilitate a better you. Duo Dogs is committed to improving the lives of our clients through our integrated programs and processes.
Mobility
Assist with tasks such as retrieving objects, opening doors, bumping light switches, push plates, helping with undressing and opening/closing low cabinets. The dogs can also help as a tactile cue while ambulating or standing.
Hearing
Alert to consistent sounds in the client’s environment such as a doorbell, phone ring or alarm, fire alarm, kitchen timer, etc. The dog alerts the person to the sound and takes them to it.
Veterans with PTSD
Help Veterans cope with symptoms of PTSD to reorient to time and place, reduce anxiety, intervene during nightmares, increase confidence in public spaces and provide a social bridge for positive interactions in the community.
Facility Dogs
Placed in facilities serving physically, psychologically or socially at-risk populations, the dog works as an adjunct or complement to therapeutic interactions by licensed or certified workers that are trained as handlers by Duo.
Touch Therapy
Through the Duo Touch Therapy™ program, volunteers and their personal dogs are trained and certified to visit hospitals, treatment centers, assisted living homes and schools across the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
