Support Dogs is entering a new era of growth and development as it makes two major advances in 2016. Our organization, which serves clients by opening doors to independence through assistance dogs, touch therapy, and other programs, has hired a new President and CEO and will be expanding into a new building in the coming months.

After multiple decades with an Executive Director at the helm, SDI’s Board of Directors made the decision to transition the organization’s leadership position to a President and CEO role for the first time. This decision aimed to advance SDI’s competencies in business and strategic planning.

This week, SDI officially named Anne Klein as their new President and CEO. Klein previously served as Vice President of Education Strategies for the St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce where she led a highly collaborative regional effort designed to achieve increased educational attainment.

Anne brings an exciting combination of business and nonprofit experience to Support Dogs, Inc. She is the perfect blend of hands-on business acumen and leadership qualities, empowering our truly wonderful staff to excel in their positions, while working with the Board, clients, donors and volunteers, says Angie Fink, Support Dogs’ Board President. There are many hats to wear here at SDI and we’re looking forward to utilizing the skills Anne brings to elevate and grow this amazing organization.

A solid financial leader, Klein has a proven track record of driving growth while remaining fiscally conservative a perfect combination for a growing nonprofit organization. She also has experience managing large capital projects, creating scalable plans, and keeping costs low during growth. Not to mention, she is a dog lover!

I have always been amazed by the connection animals have with people and what they can offer to an individual in need of assistance, says Klein. I truly look forward to hitting the ground running and contributing to the ongoing growth of Support Dogs, Inc.

Not only does Klein background line up nicely with SDI’s needs, her addition comes at a pivotal time as the organization prepares to relocate to a much larger and fully customized space, allowing for additional growth.

The 20,000+ square-foot headquarters will triple the size of the organization’s existing space and is located at 10955 Linpage Place at the southeast corner of Page and Lindbergh. The building was funded by a “Building Opportunities” capital campaign, which raised nearly $4 million in donor support over the last three years.

Ultimately, Support Dogs, Inc. anticipates the coming years to be extremely productive. With a top-of-the-line new building and an extremely capable leader, SDI looks forward to providing independence to even more clients in the St. Louis region and across the nation.
